The Township Manager oversees the daily operations of the township and implementing policies established by the Board of Trustees.  The Manager works closely with residents, staff, department heads and elected officials to promote a safe, sustainable, and well-managed community.

The Sumpter Township Department of Human Resources is responsible for recruitment and hiring functions for the Township, assisting with policy development and distribution, compensation and labor relations, and benefits management for current and retired Township of Sumpter employees.

The department accepts employment applications at all times. In addition to these hiring responsibilities, the Sumpter Township Human Resources is also generally responsible for:

  • Administering worker's compensation for Township employees.
  • Administering health, dental, optical, and life Insurance, and other contractual benefits for Township.
  • Administration of COBRA and unemployment benefits.
  • Assisting Township manager and department heads with employee relations and with the processing of union grievances.
  • Maintenance of employee personnel files.
  • The negotiation, administration, and implementation of the collective bargaining agreements with each of the Townships Unions.
  • Other personnel duties, including such services as may be requested by the Township Manager and Township Board.
