Notice of Registration for May 5th, 2026 Special Election

NOTICE OF REGISTRATION FOR THE SPECIAL ELECTION
TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, MAY 5TH, 2026

SUMPTER TOWNSHIP, MICHIGAN

TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF SUMPTER TOWNSHIP:

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that any qualified elector of Sumpter Township who is not already registered may 
register to vote at the office of the Township Clerk; the office of the County Clerk; a Secretary of State 
branch office, or other designated state agency. Registration forms can be obtained at mi.gov/vote and 
mailed to the Township Clerk. Voters who are already registered may update their registration at 
www.expressSOS.com.

The last day to register in any matter other than in-person with the local clerk is Monday, April 20th, 2026.

After this date, anyone who qualifies as an elector may register to vote in person with proof of residency 
(MCL 168.492) at the Sumpter Township Clerk’s office, located at 23480 Sumpter Rd., Belleville, MI 48111 
at the following times:

Regular business hours:

• Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Saturday, May 2nd , 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Election Day, Tuesday, May 5th, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Huron School District AND Monroe County Schools Intermediate School  District will be voting on the following proposals as presented and listed below: 
 
HURON SCHOOL DISTRICT

GENERAL OBLIGATION UNLIMITED TAX BOND
PROPOSAL FOR BUILDING AND SITE PURPOSES IN THE 
AMOUNT OF NOT TO EXCEED $65,830,000

MONROE COUNTY SCHOOLS INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL DISTRICT

REGIONAL ENHANCEMENT MILLAGE RENEWAL PROPOSAL

This proposal will allow the intermediate school district to continue to levy regional enhancement millage 
that will expire with the 2026 levy. Shall the limitation on the amount of taxes which may be assessed 
against all Monroe County Intermediate School District, Michigan, be renewed by .9866 mill ($0.9866 on 
each $1,000 of taxable valuation) for a period of 5 years, 2027 to 2031, inclusive, to provide operating 
funds to enhance other state and local funding for constituent district technology purposes and related 
expenses. The estimate of the revenue the intermediate school district will collect if 
the millage is approved and levied in 2027 is approximately $7,636,841.
